The people in my life inspire me to make art. When I look at them, I see them through the lens of a camera. Wherever we are, I see intimate moments as black and white images. The moments of honesty and closeness that we see every day but never really notice are the moments that I find truly beautiful. The relationships between the people in the photographs and also their relationship to me is a fundamental element in my work; which I hope most people can relate to.

The nature of my work is about the honesty of people and seeing through the mask that people put on daily to hide their flaws from the world, trying to find the vulnerable, true moments. This is part of the reason I use analogue as opposed to digital photography, while you can use tricks in the darkroom and developing process to alter photographs, with film there is an understanding that what you see in the image had to have been in a certain place at a certain time. Although this is not absolute, it is more real that digital. I also think that analogue photography has an elitism over digital because you can't just delete something straight away, you have to commit to the image and know what you want before you click the shutter, otherwise it is a wasted exposure. As well as this, from a personal point of view, the actual process of developing and processing a film and holding everything in your hands is incomparable to sitting at a computer screen on Photoshop.

Over the years I have focused on many different projects, trying to explore different subjects and expand my work, but no matter what I set out to do, my art and photography always seems to come back to identity in some form. My current work is all about making the people in my life into celebrities through photographs and the way they are displayed. By showing the photographs as large A1 poster style prints, they have an importance, like a poster you buy of a musician or actor. I am also covering whole walls and rooms with smaller prints, so that when you look at the installations, they're very consuming and its like your stepping into my world and admiring these people with me.
